Food Pairings for Bourgueil Theophile Guillon
I bought this bottle of wine for £8 from a shop in London's Hampstead [www.nicolas.co.uk].It was made for the Nicolas chain of wine shops by the negociant Theophile Guillon.Bourgueil is an AOC created in 1937 for red and rose wines made from the cabernet franc grape sometimes called Petit Breton in this area around the village of that name. This is located between Saumur and Tours in the central Loire valley.I drank my bottle last night with my supper of a gammon steak and I enjoyed it.There is plenty of a blackcurrant/blackberry fruit there and the tannins are not intrusive. This is lovely stuff and good value for money.
