Bourgogne Hautes Cotes de Beaune Jean Truffot 2011

Member Review by duncan 906:

I bought this bottle of wine from a local supermarket where it was on special offer at eight pounds. The Hautes Cotes de Beaune appellation is an area of higher ground to the west of the main wine producing area of the Cotes D'Or which gained AOC status in 1961 and where vineyards are interspersed by other forms of agriculture.Jean Truffot is a co-operative based in Chablis which operates in several areas of Burgundy.Last night I had a steak for my supper so I decided to start the bottle. The colour of the wine was quite pale almost like a rose. There was some slightly sweet raspberry or strawberry type fruit there but the tannins were quite weak so it had little real body.Overall I would say it was an OK bottle especially at the price but not one I would buy again.I had a Hautes Cotes de Beane from another co-operative, Les Caves des Hautes Cotes,a while ago and it was far better.
