This opens sappy and sweet with oak to the fore and a background of licorice spice. There is a deep, roast meat, veal reduction edge to the fruit and high tones of cola and floral tones. In the mouth this is bright with a bit of an extracted feel. Simple cherry and cranberry fruit is presented in a modernish package of clumsy tannins and elevated alcohol that yields an inelegant whole though the finish does offer a pleasant medicinal note. 86pts

Utterly delicious for a bourgogne rouge. This bottle has sold out at my local wine shop, thanks to me and the salesperson that recommended it to me. Try to find it, and then buy it.
This is a much more complex wine than it appears at 1st. I just finished a blind taste test with this and a Romani Conti of the same year and this wine exceed it in every way.
Red cherry, bratwurtz pencil nose. Zippy acid. Complex - red fruit, light banana. Ok now, but not yet at peak. $55.
Handsome blond, he walks into the room and looks fresh and appealing. Intelligent smile, a few sharply witty lines and a warm, infectious laugh. Something's missing though - he doesn't seem to have read all the books you'd hoped he would have, he doesn't know how to carry a conversation, and you're just a tiny bit bored after the first half hour. Probably unfairly critical because of your disappointment. He seemed like the kind of guy who'd keep you up all night.
Brownish color. Very light color, red cherries, acidic. Light sweetness, strawberry. Still age potential. Food wine. Light tannin. Light chocolate. $28.Update: This might have been the Rollin Père.

(25% vendange entier; 60% new oak): Bright dark red. Deep but reticent nose hints at licorice and underbrush. Then surprisingly layered and creamy in the mouth with cherry and redcurrant fruit complemented by dark Belgian chocolate and licorice. No easy sweetness here but plenty rich. Finishes with suave fine-grained tannins and some chocolatey oak that will take time to harmonize with the wine. This fruit and the Clos de Beze were picked on the first two days of October. Medium red. Wild musky aromas of smoke leather and tobacco with red fruits in the deep background. Then surprisingly tight and chewy in the mouth in a distinctly masculine style with berry and spice flavors currently cut off by substantial dusty tannins. At present ...there are notes of reduction yet the nose seems fresh and ripe anyway. The cool restrained and mineral-driven flavors possess good volume before terminating in a linear and persistent finish... Burghound.
