Bouchard Père & Fils Mâcon-Lugny St Pierre 2015

Winemaker's Notes:

At Bouchard Père et Fils, the line is the respect of the land. The wines have great finesse. To express the characters of Cru from which they are derived, the means are significant. In 2005, the house built a new, 10 000 m² winery in Savigny les Beaune, in the middle of the vineyards. 10 meters below ground, the cellar contains about 4 500 barrels and millions of bottles. In the recent years, the house has regained its success with its perfectly defined wines. Fresh nose offering a lovely bouquet of wildflowers. Pleasant, very perfumed and nicely rounded on the palate, this wine should be drunk in its youth in order to enjoy its freshness. Perfect with crayfish.

As early as 1866, Dr Jules Guyot in his book on viticulture of the centre north of France, wrote that: " the essence of the fine wines of the Côte d'Or, is the grape variety, the Pineau Noir or Noirien for the red wines; the Pineau Blanc or Chardenet for the white wines ". This modestly priced Macon from the commune of Lugny is highly representative of the style of southern Burgundy with a slightly spicy apple nose and a buttery, apple entry, with a moderate, nutshell finish. Above average and from a good vintage. Best of all, the price is right. 88.
