A fresh and moderately rustic nose of red and dark berry fruit aromas is replete with various warm earth nuances that also suffuse the supple and almost surprisingly round flavors that are easy to like yet solidly complex. The mildly austere finale is well balanced and persistent and I suspect that this will in all likelihood tighten up significantly as the underlying structure is deceptively agreeable at present. A lovely villages that should drink well after 6 to 8 years of bottle age. Outstanding Top value. Burghound.
The lovely 2010 Petits Monts from Domaine Georges Nokllat was raised in fifty percent new oak and was showing quite well at the time of my visit in March wafting from the glass in a complex blend of red and black cherries coffee bean dark soil tones woodsmoke a nice touch of fresh nutmeg and plenty of spicy new oak. On the palate the wine is deep fullish and very pure on the attack with impressive minerality fine mid-palate depth and a very long ripely tannic and tangy finish. Today the wine is a bit marked by its wood on the backend but there is plenty of stuffing to eventually absorb these wood tannins and the wine should be excellent with eight to ten years of bottle age. There are eight barrels of Petits Monts in the cellars in 2010- four of which were new. A very good example of this great terroir. 2019-2040+. 91+. John Gilman.
Here the cool airy and restrained nose displays notes of black pinot fruit stone and plenty of Vosne style spice. The classy and sophisticated medium-bodied flavors possess plenty of minerality as well as very fine if firm tannins that coat the palate on the well-delineated finish. A classic Beaux Monts of refinement and understatement. - Comments: Outstanding Burghound.
