Bouchard Aine Beaune Premier Cru Clos du Roi Pinot Noir Wine 2009

External Review by JJ Buckley Fine Wines:

This red evokes black cherry blackberry and violet aromas and flavors. There s a line of tannins for support covered by the ample flesh. Drink now through 2020. -BS Wine Spectator.

Here there is slightly better ripeness as well as more aromatic depth on the fruity yet pretty red berry fruit aromas that include a touch of forest floor that precede round and relatively generous barely middle weight flavors that retain a reasonable sense of precision on the dusty and acceptably long finish. This is very Beaune in that the flavors are generous and while this is not especially elegant there is an attractive purity of expression. Despite these positive aspects like many of the wines in the range this lacks just the final hair of ripeness which detracts from the overall sense of quality. Burghound.
