Bouchaine Pinot Noir Carneros 2009

Winemaker's Notes:

This particular Pinot Noir stands out as a sophisticated and elegant wine with a silky, lingering finish. The wine exudes darker fruit characteristics of Satsuma plums, like the trees that border the front of the winery, and dark cherry highlights. Bacon and Sumatran coffee flavors provide depth with hings of clove and nutmeg, creating a mosaic of sensations to savor.

Looking back at my notes on the '08 and '07, this vintage seems a bit lighter, fruitier and a touch more acidic, more in line with an Oregon pinot than the normal bigger Napa pinot I've had.

Bouchaine Vineyards inhabits the oldest continually operated winery in the Carneros wine region. 2009 proved to be a fantastic harvest year. The cool summer gave way to September heat that quickly ripened the fruit to bright and well-defined Pinot Noir intensity.

A restrained style that’s trim and spicy, with an earthy edge to the dried berry and sage notes. Drink now through 2017.

This Pinot Noir is drinkable now for its soft deliciousness. It’s pretty oaky, but it offers plenty of raspberry, cherry and spice flavors that are wrapped into a silky texture.
