Add your reviewAlways had a soft spot for Boschendal as it was my first venture into South African wines. Great looking Bottle, always stands out on the shelves. When poured it was a strikingly deep, clear golden colour. On the nose, the first thing that struck me was that smell of tropical fruit with over ripe bananas, also that smell you get when you open a packet of those honey coated peanuts. Smelt very inviting. Taste was very nutty and creamy, slightly sweet with good acidity. This Chardonnay was quite oaky having spent 9 months in french oak barrels but overall I found it delicious.
Big on aroma and flavours, combining a lemony nose with citrus and ripe tropical fruit on the palate. Lively and fresh Chardonnay from the Boschendal Estate. Rich and creamy with notes of ripe mango, pineapple and pear fruit.
MMmmm... overly acidic, too bright on the palette with a quick finish and minimal complexity - under Oaked. grapefruit & peaches + some toasted vanilla & enough citric snap to make you take notice but disapointing overall.. (sampled at Boschendal vineyard in cape Town so truely a double whammy as expected far better)
