Borsao White 2011
Grapes from vineyards planted between 1975-1985, situated on hillsides, soil is clay with lots of gravel and some slate. Vineyards are some 500-700 meters (1,500-2,000) in elevation. Hand harvested grapes in late September undergo fermentation in stainless steel tanks, then aged 3 months in French oak barrels.

The 2011 White is made from 100% Macabeo (known in other parts of Spain as the indigenous grape Viura). It was fermented in stainless steel, spent three months in older French casks, and was then bottled to ensure its vibrancy and freshness. The 2011 reveals honeyed grapefruit and other citrus in a light-bodied, refreshing, crisp style. While not the most complex dry white one will find from Spain, it is a wonderful quaffer. This delicious, “don’t think about me” white wine should be consumed over the next year.
