A zesty, youthful fruit bomb that's loaded with spicy wild berry, cracked pepper and licorice aromas and ripe berry cobbler flavors. Drink now.
A little on the sweet extracted side, but balanced with rich, fine tannins and just-in-time acidity. The blackberry, currant, raspberry and cocoa flavors will play well against a grilled steak.
Zinfandel has forever defined Mendocino, a tribute to the remarkable winesproduced by Italians who settled this rugged county. Their Zin field blends stoodup to winter cold and paired well with the rustic cuisine of the old world. Most of the vinesaverage 35-40 years old, on St. George rootstock. Mendocino dominates theblend, with vineyards in the hills and valleys at 800-2600 feet above sea level, butAmador offers a spicy complexity that rounds out the wine. Selected lots aregently pressed to soften tannins. It's truly a wine we try not to manipulate muchbecause the fruit from these exceptional vineyards simply doesn't need it. Rustically tannic and a little on the thin side, but rewards for wild berry and tobacco flavors and a dry, spicy finish. This is a Zin to gulp with hard cheeses.
