From the Fetzer family, this Cabernet is produced from organically grown grapes. Rich plum and berry balanced by American and French oak creates a full-bodied wine that would complement a side of beef.
Forward black cherry and plum aromas fill out the nose with hints of chocolate and spice. The wine offers a nice, full mouth with elegant blackberry flavors, ripe tannins and a lingering finish.
Supple, elegant and polished, delivering ripe, fleshy plum, black cherry, mineral, spice and light cedary oak flavors that are well-proportioned, gaining length. Drink now through 2011.
Bonterra has long been a champion of organic grape growing, and their wines have always been classic expressions of varietal character. So it is with this inexpensive Cabernet. Itrsquo;s dry, richly tannic and flavorful in blackberries and cherries, with a ripe edge of cocoa. Fully drinkable now, it has real elegance and class.
Lusty and forward, this Cab blasts off with explosive cherry, red and black currant, licorice, spicy red plum and mocha flavors. Not very subtle, but itrsquo;s dry and rich in steak-busting tannins.
A wonderful red wine, full-bodied, dry and elegant. It shows Cabernet character in the blackberries, cherries and black currants, but thatrsquo;s balanced with an earthiness and minerality and even some smoked meat notes that must come from a percentage of Syrah and Petit Sirah. Tasted in a flight of much more expensive cabs, this one easily stood out. Editorsrsquo; Choice.
The rsquo;02 was quite a good Cabernet and so is this one, from a winery whose organic grapes produce dependable wines across all varieties. This bottling is nicely dry and balanced, with a classic Cabernet profile. Drink now.
