Brilliant deep garnet with rose highlights and a bewitching perfume of ripe black cherry, plum, and anise, plus an earthiness that’s evocative of the Northern Rhône cuvées of Cornas. Supple tannins yield to bright, brambly berries, black cherry, red currant, plum, and licorice. Silky and nuanced, with a juicy core that balances the fruit and earth. Our ’08 Syrah “Le Pousseur” is named for an alchemist and trickster, but is withal an incredibly accessible wine, great by the glass but also a felicitous partner to all manner of roasted meats, poultry, game, wild mushrooms, and aged cheeses.

A nice light-bodied Syrah from Bonny Doon vineyards. A bit too light for me this wine was still bursting with plenty of dark purple fruits especially plums. The finish was complemented by smooth supple tannins. If you’re a fan of lighter reds you’ll love this one.

A nice, light-bodied Syrah from Bonny Doon vineyards. A bit too light for me, this wine was still bursting with plenty of dark, purple fruits, especially plums. The finish was complemented by smooth, supple tannins. If you’re a fan of lighter reds, you’ll love this one.
