Add your reviewA year years ago I went through a phase where I absolutely loved all dessert wines, gods it is quite amusing how my tastes have changed. With that said, I am still unsure as to how I came to try a bottle of Bonny Doon Framboise. The framboise should have turned me off to the thing in general but alas, I'd like to think of myself as an open minded girl, after seeing this bottle at every turn I found myself thinking I just had to try. I can praise and appreciate intense fruit flavor and aroma. However, this is when intensely fruity goes completely wrong. Perhaps wrong is less true than completely unrefined of taste and simply overshadowed by creating as sweet, as syrup-like a "wine" as possible. Berry flavors should not be attempted as often as they are. To me, berry flavored (fortified) wines and liquors can be incredibly sickening when produced incorrectly, which unfortunately, is exemplified by this. My first and lasting impression of this is that it should really be a substance used in cooking/baking than anything that should be drank.

The essence of raspberry, Bonny Doon Framboise is raspberry wine infused with spirits to emulate the rich infusions produced in Alsace. It derives its mystique from three highly aromatic varieties of raspberry cultivated in the state of Washington, namely the Meeker, the Tulameen and the mythical Morrison, an exceptionally flavorful variety selected from a raspberry research station of Puyallup, Washington. The Morrison provides an extra quantum of flavor. This is a luscious, sweet dessert wine that is also ideal for mixing. Pour a splash into your favorite Prosecco for a uniquely refreshing cocktail.
