Bonnes Mares 2007

Winemaker's Notes:

"A restrained, even taciturn nose that is intensely earthy yet very fresh with dark berries, cassis, plum and floral hints introduces rich, full and intensely minerally big-bodied flavors blessed with huge amounts of dry extract that coat the palate and buffers the solid but refined tannins, all wrapped in a beautifully balanced, pure and strikingly persistent finish. This is an impressive effort as it's tautly muscular with everything in perfect proportion...94" BH 01/10 "Deep red with ruby highlights. Knockout nose combines raspberry, peony, spices, blood orange and a whiff of pepper. Wonderfully sweet and silky in the mouth and yet with a steely impression of spine. Boasts lovely clarity and penetration and finishes with superb sappy persistence...92-95" IWC 03/09 "Gorgeous aromas and flavors of red currant, raspberry, black cherry, licorice and mineral highlight this complex, powerful and stylish red. This keeps pulsing on the palate, ending with a long, fruit-, spice- and mineral-tinged aftertaste...94" WS 02/10

Picks up a violet theme on the long finish. Even better than a previous... Wine Spectator. A Pinot Noir wine from Burgundy in France. 2004 Domaine Georges Roumier Bonnes Mares 750ml

Medium red. Red cherry, peony, dried herbs and mint on the high-pitched, scented nose. Juicy but tightly wound and quite closed; conveys an impression of great energy but this is hiding its sweetness today. Not especially agreeable on the back end to... Stephen Tanzers IWC.
