Bonneau du Martray Corton Charlemagne Burgundy 2004

Winemaker's Notes:

"A reserved yet elegant nose of white flower, green apple, pear andnatural spice and wet stone notes introduce detailed, fresh and wonderfullyintense flavors that are exceptionally clean and bright, culminating in a bonedry finish replete with superb minerality. This is not overly dense, particularly compared to the thick and opulent '03 yet the balance is nearperfect and if it adds complexity during the rest of its élevage, itshould merit the upper end of the range. Moreover, it's sufficiently structuredthat it will need the better part of a decade to reach its apogee"<br/>Burghound.com 89-92/100 pts

The quality of this important estate's Cortons, both white and red, is nothing short of breathtaking. The significant parcels owned by the estate are in the best exposures of the vineyard. Meticulous attention to yield, pruning, picking time, etc. has resulted in a serious, noble, stylistically pure and brilliantly intense Corton Charlemagnes. The Burghound review captures the specific qualities of the 2004 to perfection: "A reserved yet elegant nose of white flower, green apple, pear, all-spice and wet stone introduce detailed, fresh and wonderfully intense flavors, culminating in a bone dry finish replete with superb minerality. The balance is near perfect.

The outstanding 1994 Corton-Charlemagne has a pure (difficult to achieve in this rot-plagued vintage) mineral, nut, cream, and almond-laden nose. On the palate, this medium-bodied and velvety-textured wine offers mouth-coating, precise, and crisp sto... Robert Parker's Wine Advocate. Like many of the great wines of the world, this is a rare wine, and only available in small quantities.
