Bond Red Bordeaux Blend Napa Valley Melbury 2006

Winemaker's Notes:

The 2006 Melbury has a dense plum/purple color and a big, sweet, scorched earth, creme de cassis and blueberry nose, with hints of charcoal, spice box, and graphite. Rich, well-made, and showing exceptionally well from bottle, it is a wine that will certainly evolve for 25 or more years. - The Wine Advocate*only 1 bottle remains*

A nose of ‘texture and terroir’…. Definitely Oakville (I thought it was Phelp's Backus in a blind tasting)… expansive in the mouth, the flavors are driven by the texture and there are drop dead tannins that help this wine last in the mouth.

bordering greatness. wondeerful big nose of dark fruits and chocolate. not hot at all. palate coats with same dark fruits, mocha, cocoa and some spice. tannins are big but very tolerable at this point. will get better in the future. finishes wonderfully long and volupuous.

The 2005 Vecina is also strutting its stuff. I can't say it showed better than it did last year, but this wine comes close to perfection for my palate. 96 Points - Robert M. Parker, Jr.'s The Wine Advocate (December 2008)The 2005 Vecina is also strutting its stuff. I can't say it showed better than it did last year, but this wine comes close to perfection for my palate. Made in a Graves-like style, it exhibits scents of roasted herbs, espresso, scorched rocks, and liquid minerals seamlessly integrated into a full-bodied, dense wine offering a cascade of black cherries and black currants. Built for the long haul, this powerful 2005 is soft enough to be drunk early, but it will not hit its stride for at least a decade, and should age for three decades thereafter.

Deep, full ruby. Black raspberry, licorice, roasted tobacco and mocha on the nose. Huge, broad and compellingly deep but not especially sweet or fruity. Surprisingly sappy acidity gives the wine shape and verve. The tannins here seem sweeter than tho... Stephen Tanzer. A Proprietary Blend wine from California in USA. 2004 Bond (Harlan) Vecina 750ml

Rich, almost thick and syrupy, with loamy, savory currant and black olive flavors that are compact and focused, all presented in a supple, graceful style. Finishes long and persistent. Best from 2009 through 2013. 1,481 cases made. -JL Wine Spectator. A Proprietary Blend wine from California in USA. 2004 Bond (Harlan) The Matriarch Proprietary Red Wine 750ml

Good medium ruby. Aromas of blueberry and blackberry liqueur, with a note of coffee; just this side of roasted. Extremely dense and sweet, combining great sucrosity with very firm but fine tannins.
