Bollinger Champagne Blanc de Noir 1999

Winemaker's Notes:

The 1999 Vielles Vignes Francaises is simply stunning. Layers of perfumed redraspberries, flowers and spices flow onto the palate with breathtaking beauty. The mousse is exceptionally fine, as is everything about this wine. Althoughthe wine possesses superb density and richness, it remains light on the palateand supremely graceful. Under the direction of Chef de Caves MathieuKauffmann, Bollinger produces one of the most consistent lineups in Champagne. (Antonio Galloni - Wine Advocate - Dec 08)

Pinot Noir predominates, a demanding grape variety with an intense character which forms the backbone of the Bollinger style. Continuity of style is ensured by an exceptional collection of over 600,000 reserve magnums, making Bollinger the only champagne House with such a wide and precise palette of aromas for their blends.   As a guarantee of supreme quality, the best crus are vinified in wood thanks to a stock of 3,000 small, aged casks. The House lets its wines mature for twice as long as the appellation requirement. This is not out of vanity, but because a great wine needs the luxury of time to develop its full character. mmmm, well integrated at almost 8 years old with huge biscuity and oaky flavours, but not overwhelming and a lot of nuance. I drank this on 01/01/2008 and I'm still tasting it the day after.

A superb wine, created by Bollinger, there are only 4000 bottles of this created for each year they produce. A superb Pinot Noir, smooth with heavy chocolate and vanilla notes on the nose. A slight tannin finish, which got better with breathing, and I would suspect that you could lay this wine down for a good few years yet, and it would only get better.

Champagne is the definition of luxury. Which makes it the perfect gift for any occasion, specially when making a toast or an impression. And, when it comes in a beautiful grape-leaf box, it's a combination that can't be beaten. 1999

One of the finest vintage Champagnes now available. A rich, big-flavored, extremely dry style. This wine will continue to gain complexity.

Very appealing for its potpourri of spices. Clove, nutmeg, cinnamon and allspice pick up cherry and orange peel notes as this unfolds on the palate. Dry, intense and well-balanced, with a long finish. Ideal for food. Drink now through 2020. 250 cases... Wine Spectator. A very special bottling from the historic Bollinger house. This rosé is made only in perfectly ripe vintages. Red wine from the La Côte au Enfants plot in Aÿ is added to blend to create this true expression of terroir.
