Wine Advocate #161 (Oct 2005) It's hard to believe the 2003 Syrah Astralis Vineyard could be better, but it offers riveting richness, intensity, purity, and equilibrium. Structurally, it is similar to the Piggott Range, revealing abundant amounts of sweet, ripe tannin, and huge extract, richness, and depth. Meant for true connoisseurs who are willing to forget it for 5-8 years, it represents what Roman Bratasiuk and Clarendon Hills do so well ... show respect for the great traditions of France, but recognize the extraordinary raw materials that emerge from old vines planted in McLaren Vale. This fabulous wine offers both power and elegance, and showcases the extraordinary talent of Roman Bratasiuk. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2030.

A nice pinot noir that has a considerable bite. Little astringent for my personal taste. It's okay.
Peared with sting beans and tomato salad with a garlic rosemary dressing wine was intensely excellent bold and flavorful. Side dish included a pork lion oreganato.Wine would Also go well with a chicken marsala dish. I finished the bottle with no guilt or regret and highly recommend this vintage.I toast Bolla for this phenomenal wine... T Triolo Warwick NY
mild tasting with a shoe leather/fishy aftertaste. not a fan
This was a fine wine...pinot noir is extremely popular right now so I'm happy that we were able to jump on a bandwagon and still be pleasantly surprised...this wine was mild, but still had enough kick to it for my taste...fruitful on the nose, but perhaps it wasn't complex enough...pleasant, but could have had a little more...
First nose was very high of alcohol even though the wine only has 12% in alcohol. Little cherry nose and high acidity but once it opened it got a little better. Not the wine I would drink for a special occasion.

Ruby red in color with black cherry nuances. On the nose, the wine is clearly elegant, with aromas of wild cherries, black currants, dried spring flowers and a touch of licorice. In the mouth, the wine is well balanced.
