From Sobon Estate, and certainly richer and meatier than the regular Sobon Zins, yet marked by similar characteristics. It's hot in alcohol, overripe in raisiny flavors, and thick and heavy in the mouth, although it's nicely dry.
Long associated with sustainable agricuture, Shenandoah has been producing organic wines since 1989. Their 2001 Reserve Zin contains 7% Sangiovese and offers up loads of mocha-infused, dark-fruit flavors. It is full-bodied and full-bore, with soft tannins and a round, ripe mouthfeel. Great Holiday Zin.
This lovely wine is a rich example of the Amador Zinfandel style. The aromas are reminiscent of ripe blackberries, cherries, and cocoa. The wine is full-bodied and only moderately tannic. The wine is a perfect match for roasts, steak and rich sauces, and will complement aged, full flavored cheeses.
From one of Shenandoah's oldest and shyest-bearing vineyards. Beautiful aromas of blackberry, cocoa, and mulberry highlight the wine. The flavor of ripe plum, berry and chocolate bring out the true old vine character of this fine wine. Serve with ribs, lamb or duck confit.
Sumptuous, ripe fruit focusing on briery raspberries, plum and hints of mint. There's a core of soft new oak that adds dimension and complexity.
Aromas of blackberry, cocoa and mulberry highlight ripe flavors that bring out true old vine character.
Just what you want a great mountain Zin to be. Marvelously rich and ripe in berry, cherry, chocolate, coffee and spicy flavors, a wine that just blows you away with fruit, but balanced and even elegant. Fully dry despite the size. Perfect with grilled meat or poultry.
