Bogle Vineyards Merlot California 2010
Subtle and silky, yet bright and intense, this is multifaceted. Black raspberry and dark cherry greet the nose, while the brighter fruit of ripe plum dazzles the palate. The toast and spice of American oak seamlessly integrate with the structure of this wine, leaving a lingering finish.
My rating 88: for the 2010 Merlot. Firm body with good balance. Nose is well balanced. No hint of oak what is actually nice. Price at BJ's $ 7.99 Re tasted this wine very nice increased rating to 88
It's a Bogle, so you know it's solid.
I honestly remember this tasting significantly better... I guess that says most of it. The nose is spectacular, if only you didn't have to drink it. The taste is overpowering and the tannins are right there with it. This is not a repeat wine for me.
First glass 20 minutes in the glass. Very Tart & dry. Second glass with vacuseal just as tart. Third glass with cork slightly better. Won't buy again.
Full meaty rich. Lots if tannins
Jason: "I can't get enough of it" Ally: "Smooth!"
External Reviews for Bogle Vineyards Merlot California
From the winery, 'Developed and intense fruit from this harvest has produced one of our most full-bodied merlots yet! Deep cherry fruit hits both the nose and palate upon the first sip, followed by soft hints of summer anise. Touches of pipe tobacco and spicy oak lend weight to the finish, trailed by firm, assertive tannins.'
The long, cool growing season of 2010 produced Merlot grapes unparalleled in quality. Full-bodied and big, the resulting wine resonates with bright cherry and dried herbs on the nose. Rich flavors of black currants and a touch of summer fig combine with savory black pepper to create a wine mouthfilling and intense, yet silky smooth and approachable. After twelve months in American oak, the wine has a complex, developed palate that finishes with perfect acidity and a long, lingering finish. - Winery ** SOLD OUT **
