What to Expect

Merlot has gotten a bad rap as of late but there is no denying the wine's appeal. Packed with deep, dark berry fruit and nuanced hints of cocoa, herb and earth with a soft structure. Its velvety texture makes Merlot instantly appealing and an obvious alternative to similar, more tannic Bordeaux varieties.

Winemakers Notes: "Developed and intense fruit from this harvest has produced one of our most full-bodied merlots yet! Deep cherry fruit hits both the nose and palate upon the first sip, followed by soft hints of summer anise. Touches of pipe tobacco and spicy oak lend weight to the finish, trailed by firm, assertive tannins. Amazing aromas of fresh, ripened cherries and plums burst from this perfectly balanced Merlot. On the palate the full fruit leads beautifully into the complex finish: soft and silky, yet with firm tannins and spicy, smoky oak. Earth tones of pipe tobacco and leather round out the experience. Enjoy this wine with a wide range of food: from pasta with a light sauce to hearty meat dishes, or of course, just by itself!

What can you say about Bogle? Great QVR and very simple flavors that mildly resemble the varietal character but hey, I'd never turn down Silver Oak, and never turn down a good solid California wine from the Valley. Go Clarksburg wines!
