Bogle Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon California 2010

Winemaker's Notes:

Cabernet Sauvignon is a grape that takes its own sweet time, slowly lingering to ripen on the vine. We are rewarded by its reluctance. Bogle winemakers have crafted an expressive example of this classic varietal. Richly extracted cherry and cassis arrest the senses, holding captive on both the nose and the palate. Swiftly followed by black pepper and black olive, the supple mouthfeel fills out this full-bodied wine. Spicy American oak heightens the dense fruit, finishing with wisps of ground pepper and stellar tannins. Cellar for another 7-10 years, but don’t let anyone say you can’t enjoy it now. Served Best With: This well-balanced red wine can be savored with a variety of meat dishes, rich sauces or aged cheeses. Try a rib eye with blue cheese butter.

Although the Bogle family has been farming since the mid-1800's, it was not until 1968 that the father and son team of Warren and Chris Bogle planted their first 20 acres of wine grapes in Clarksburg, California. In this small farming community nestled along the Sacramento River, the Bogle family's years of hard work have developed into an impressive grape growing operation, as well as a nationally acclaimed winery. Today Bogle Vineyards farms over 1,200 acres of wine grapes in the Delta region. While the winery was established ten years after the first grapes were planted, its success has grown tremendously along with the vineyards. The success of Bogle over the years is firmly rooted in one thing: the day-to-day involvement of the Bogle family in the hands-on effort to produce and promote quality wines. Patty Bogle became involved in the early years of the vineyards with her late husband Chris, when they planted fields together in the early 1970's. Patty took over operation of the winery in 1989 and has directed production to new and exciting heights. Patty's daughter Jody also contributes to the family business by being active in customer support, as well as running the wine club and handling all international sales. Patty's son Warren, named after the founder of Bogle Vineyards, is the sixth generation of the Bogle family to farm this fertile Delta region. Like his grandfather and father, Warren understands that in order to produce quality wines, you must first produce quality grapes. This tradition of respect for the land and the vines is crucial to the success of Bogle wines. The production of Bogle wine is influenced by this family tradition as well as the ever-changing trends in the wine industry. Since 1992, Bogle Winery has participated in the California Appellation Program. In this program, winemakers source fruit from some of the best vineyards in the state and blend them with Bogle's Estate Vineyards in Clarksburg, thus assuring that the wines benefit from many of the incredible grape growing regions of California. Each and every Bogle wine created is a unique and exciting blend with true varietal character and an approachable style. With their deep commitment to quality, the Bogle family wouldn't have it any other way. Read less

Not your typical chardonnay. Drinks more like a Sauvignon Blanc or a Pinot Gris. Tropical fruit, pear, and a grassy nose. First sips have notes of citrus that transitions into a more typical chardonnay butteriness. Finish is long and crisp. Great balance in acidity and a steal for the price.

Yes of course, this has lots of oak and butter on the nose and the malolactic fermentation is subtle. A bit crisp on entry, which makes if up for the butteriness.

Bright straw hue, fresh aromas of cut apples and ripe pear; flavor notes of sharp green apples, pear and lemon mingle with a refreshing acidity across a creamy palate. Nice summer value.

Deceptively complex, tight and vibrant, with a slow rise of citrus-laced ... Drink now through 2014. -JL

An oaky nose with aromas of green apple and other bright fruits. Starts off citrusy, and has notes of juicy apple and pear, along with oak. Crisp. A great Chardonnay for the price.

Irresistible vanilla and intriguing black cherry lay way to the rich, supple wine that is the Cabernet Sauvignon. Wisps of tobacco smoke linger on the palate, reminiscent of grandfather's old pipe. Cinnamon, clove and nutmeg are left by the 14 months of aging in American oak. Ample tannins and an enduring finish will allow this wine to cellar for another 6-8 years, but don't let anyone say you can't enjoy it now!

Aromas of fruit and spice mingle and tantalize the senses as you first encounter this Chardonnay. Green apples and juicy pears give way to elegant hints of Meyer lemons, but circle back to finish ripe and refreshing on the palate.

Bogle has taken a big leap forward with their rsquo;08 Chardonnay. It shows many fine qualities, from the fruity crispness and creamy texture to the pineapple, apple and pear flavors. This is a great price for a Chard of this richness.

Intense and vibrant in a full-bodied style, with lively pear, citrus, green apple and melon flavors. Ends with a pithy grapefruit peel edge that's complex. Drink now through 2010.

Aromas of fruit and spice mingle and tantalize the senses as you first encounter this Chardonnay. Green apples and juicy pears give way to elegant hints of Meyer lemons, but circle back to finish ripe and refreshing on the palate. Created by aging on the lees, the rich and velvety mouthfeel takes the fruit to another level, allowing the flavors to sink softly into spicy vanilla notes of American oak. The finish, graceful as a lemon meringue, perfectly balances the wine's creaminess and acidity. - Winery
