Bogle Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon 2012
"A classic example of the varietal, Bogle’s Cabernet is crafted with notes of tea and tobacco leaf on the nose. Plump, red cherries and black currants round out the mid palate, with supple earth tones balancing the fruit. Spicy American oak offers clove and pipe tobacco on the finish, with chalky tannins and a sturdy and satisfying structure. This wine is enjoyable now, but can be cellared for 6-9 years." -Winery
Bold, full-bodied, low tannins, sweet smelling, tastes of dark fruit - dark cherry, ripe plums, ripe blackberries - very juicy and delicious. Hints of dark chocolate, paired perfectly with 70% cacao. For the price, this is a fantastic wine - better than Cabs I've had from Napa that cost 4X as much. Flavors evolve as you let it aerate. Found this at Cost Plus for $9. Would definitely serve to guests. Excellent drinking wine, very soft for a Cab Sav.

Generous sweet-tasting oak flavor coats the fresh plum and red cherry flavors in this medium-bodied wine. It has a broad, velvety texture, and shows good balance between ripeness, acidity and firm tannins. It finishes with a soft touch.
FROM THE WINEMAKER:Cabernet Sauvignon is a grape that takes its own sweet time, slowly lingering to ripen on the vine. We are rewarded by its reluctance. Bogle winemakers have crafted a classic example of this expressive varietal. Deeply extracted cherry and bright cassis arrest the senses, holding captive on both the nose and the palate. Swiftly followed by red currant jam and black pepper, the supple mouthfeel fills out this fullbodied wine. Toasty vanilla from the American oak heightens the dense fruit, and the wine finishes with stellar tannins softened by just a hint of grandpas old cherry pipe tobacco. Cellar for another 7-10 years, but dont let anyone say you cant enjoy it nowSERVED BEST WITH:This well-balanced red wine can be savored with a variety of meat dishes, rich sauces or aged cheeses. Irresistible vanilla and intriguing black cherry lay way to the rich, supple wine that is the Cabernet Sauvignon. Wisps of tobacco smoke linger on the palate, reminiscent of grandfather's old pipe. Cinnamon, clove and nutmeg are left by the 14 months of aging in American oak. Ample tannins and an enduring finish will allow this wine to cellar for another 6-8 years, but don't let anyone say you can't enjoy it now!
This is a terrific cabernet for the price, lithe and bright, turned toward savory varietal aromas of black olive and herbs as much as red fruit. From vineyards in Clarksburg, Lodi, Sonoma and Monterey, aged in American oak, it’s an easy-to-find wine for grilled steaks and portobello mushrooms.
