What to Expect

Petite Sirah is one of a group of grapes that took to a new home - in this case California - after moving from the relative obscurity enjoyed at its birthplace - France in this case - where it is called Duriff. While never particularly elegant nor subtle, Petite Sirah can produce large-scaled, intense wines with bright flavors of blue and plummy fruits, rich with earthy tannins.

Reviews

Red currant, blackberry, and cooked cranberry on the nose plays a beautiful prelude to the roasted red plum, fig, and mint chocolate flavors with a very herbaceous, minty-menthol note on the finish. Sweet but not cloying or syrupy. Would be a great pair with any cooked-fruit dessert.

This wine is a complex contradiction of characteristics: powerful fruit and viscosity make this a big hearty red, yet soft and supple tannins finish the wine with finesse. Chocolate, tobacco and violets spring from the bouquet, hinting at the richness to come. Trademark jammy qualities fill the mouth with ripe plum and boysenberry fruit. The voluptuous finish lingers with toasty oak and plush fruit. Enjoy this passionate wine with any dish or anyone.
