An unspecified blend of Zinfandel, Syrah, cabernet Sauvignon, and Petite Sirah Noticeably oaky on the nose with some notes of smoky bacon and lots of cedary spice over lightly pepper berry fruit. Noticeably sweet on entry, though not terribly heavy due to the relatively high acids here. There’s a fairly strong mocha note early on the palate that is followed by jammy blackberry and black cherry fruit. tannins are modest. Smooth, soft and supple with just a hint of wood tannins helping to dry out the slightly sticky, sweet finish. 83pts

Smokey and weedy with a coffee/over-steeped tea quality on the nose. Easy drinking and attractively bright in the mouth with some black plum skin and candied raspberry flavors immersed in cocoa and mocha flavors on the palate. There’s a whisper of tannin here that adds some textural contrast to the bright mouthfeel. In the end though this feels a bit out of kilter and extracted in the mouth with black cherry flavors that are attractive if simple but that can’t really get past the tannins and extraction. 80pts

More light comes through the glass/wine than I think is typical for a Zinfandel. Something of a musty/woody nose. On the palate, this is a medium-bodied Zinfandel. Pleasant, but not terribly excessive fruit--blackberry/plum/prune. This to me is not a great Zinfandel, but it is exactly what I expect from Bogle-- very reliable wine at a very affordable price. US$$8.68 at Winco in Pomona.

Spicy and bold, this wine smells of fresh, ripe fruit and Malabar pepper, with the first impressions enticing you to take a sip. On the palate, flavors of homemade raspberry jam simmering on the stove abound. Surrounded by vanilla bean, juniper and toasty oak tones, this wine is well balanced through and through. Full at entry, mouth filling in the mid palate and finishing round and ripe, this wine resonates well beyond the last sip. -The Winery

Being new to wines, I've always gravitated toward white wines. I have been wanting to branch out and try a red. Among a girls night at a friends, we drank two bottles of Old Vine Zin by Bogle Vineyards. Truly enjoyed it, so much that I went out and bought my own bottle the next night! Very smooth, very versatile. Could enjoy alone, with a meal or with snacks. Great wine!

Rich, enticing layers of complexity, starting with that first irresistible sip. Ripe fruit, intense with flavors of boysenberries and sweet cherries. Luscious vanilla, caressing the palate from barrel aging in American and French oak. Juicy and silky throughout, with a finish that lingers of black licorice and spicy pipe tobacco.

This supple and mouth-filling vintage leads with juicy blueberry and ripe blackberry fruit. Black pepper and hints of chocolate notes integrate well with this soft, plush body. Subtle hints of spicy oak and pipe tobacco create structure, allowing this wine to stand up to a variety of fare.
