A bit spicy very nice weight, and smooth finish -
Intense spicy notes on the nose which is supported by ripe plum, black fruit and violet aromas. The wine has a grippy acidity and well integrated tannins with a well textured and rounded mouth feel. Long, elegant and succulent finish with superb structure from the Cabernet Sauvignon.

This wine will always have a special place in our home as it was the first red I was able to get my wife to enjoy with me. She has expanded her taste beyond this wonderful wine now, but this is still her old reliable and she loves to introduce it to people.
I truly enjoyed this wine! It was easy drinking with a round, yet deep, mouthfeel. Silky, with just enough bite to make me smile. I liked it straight out of the bottle, but it improved even more after 30 minutes of air time.
This was my gateway wine that introduced me to the world of wines. I have started expanding to reserves but this is still a nice drinker and I will always have a bottle or two in my wine rack. The smooth finish just leaves you wanting another drink and the aroma is plum and fruit.
Syrah 55%, Grenache Noir 20%, Cabernet Sauvignon 16%, Cinsault 5%, Viognier 4%. Production just 586 barrels. 14.5% Alcohol. Served slightly chilled in the warmth of South Africa I also chilled it briefly back in a, significantly cooler, UK to the wines benefit. http://www.spittoon.biz/boekenhoutskloof_the_chocolate.html

The perfect gift basket for the chocolate lover in your life. This gift basket also includes accessories and gourmet good items.
The Chocolate Block blend from Boekenhoutskloof is by far our best selling wine from South Africa. Characterized by an expressive nose with intense dark cherry, spiced raspberry, black fruit and violet-infused perfume.
An expressive nose with intense dark cherry spiced raspberry, black fruit and violet-infused perfume. With time another dimension of rusticity and fleshiness is revealed with underlying earthy notes. The palate is firmly structured, yet elegant, with supple tannins and spicy oak aromas covering a rounded mid-palate that reveals purity of fruit and a lifted freshness. Classically styled with integrated tannins and balanced acidity to ensure a long, succulent and textured finish.
The 2011 Chocolate Block is a blend of 69% Syrah, and the rest Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon and Viognier that sees a judicious 11% new oak. It has a compact bouquet of blackberry and licorice with hints of mocha just in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with a fresh, minty opening. The tannins feel lithe in the mouth and the acidity is well-judged. Though the finish is uncomplicated, it is nicely focused with plenty of fresh blackberry and raspberry notes to satisfy the masses that continue to enjoy this wine. Drink now–2015.
