User Reviews for Boekenhoutskloof Sémillon Franschhoek Valley

Winemaker's Notes:

The top wines from Boekenhoutskloof are made in tiny quantities and have a fanatical following. Canny customers buy early to avoid disappointment. The estate wines are always in the premier league, a consequence of Marc’s passion and keen eye for quality. Here we find judicious use of French oak barriques and progressive wine making practices. The grapes for this superb Semillon undergo an intensive sorting process in the vineyard to select the bunches that were concentrated by Noble Rot. The resulting wine boasts a vibrant, complex and intense nose, expressing citrus and melon amongst an array of other exotic fruit with underlying floral tones and hints of hazelnut. It is densely layered with incredible texture, in perfect balance with a lifted acidity and finesse. A vibrant white such as this is ideal to pair with mildly spiced asian cuisine, for example Thai, Indonesian or Vietnamese - particularly fantastic with prawn curries.
