The farm of Boekenhoutskloof wasoriginally granted to Huguenot settlers in1776. For two hundred years it remained in the same family. Over the two centuries they engaged in agricultural activities as diverse as tobacco, fruit, cattle and ultimately wine production. The original owners ceased wine production in the 1940s. The existing partnership re-opened the winery for production in 1996. Lead by Cellarmaster Marc Kent (South African Winemaker of the Year, 2007), the Winery is now regarded as one of SA’s top producers. Boekenhoutskloof is a Syrah specialist, with its premium range selling out on release each vintage. The Chocolate Block, a Syrah based blend, is probably the most successful new offering to come out of SA in the modern era. Boekenhoutskloof is acknowledged by Robert Parker’s Wine Buyer’s Guide and The 2009 Wine Report as South Africa’s # 1 producer. Read less

Intense spicy notes on the nose which is supported by ripe plum, black fruit and violet aromas. The wine has a grippy acidity and well integrated tannins with a well textured and rounded mouth feel. Long, elegant and succulent finish with superb structure from the Cabernet Sauvignon.

This wine will always have a special place in our home as it was the first red I was able to get my wife to enjoy with me. She has expanded her taste beyond this wonderful wine now, but this is still her old reliable and she loves to introduce it to people.

I truly enjoyed this wine! It was easy drinking with a round, yet deep, mouthfeel. Silky, with just enough bite to make me smile. I liked it straight out of the bottle, but it improved even more after 30 minutes of air time.

This was my gateway wine that introduced me to the world of wines. I have started expanding to reserves but this is still a nice drinker and I will always have a bottle or two in my wine rack. The smooth finish just leaves you wanting another drink and the aroma is plum and fruit.

Aromatische Konzentration, Schokoladennoten, sehr würzig, fruchtig, warm, cremig.

An expressive nose with intense dark cherry spiced raspberry, black fruit and violet-infused perfume. With time another dimension of rusticity and fleshiness is revealed with underlying earthy notes.

A soft, fleshy, smoky style, with tobacco, mulled plum and toast notes and a medium-weight finish. A crowd-pleasing style that shows good range. Syrah, Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cinsault and Viognier. Drink now. 5,000 cases imported. Wine Spectator. Weingut:  BoekenhoutskloofAnbauregion:  FranschhoekRebsorten:  55% Syrah, 20% Grenache Noir, 16% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cinsault, 4% ViognierInhalt:  0,75 lAlkoholgehalt: 14,25 Vol.%Säuregehalt: 5 g/lRestsüße: 2,5 g/lEmpfohlene Serviertemperatur:  16-18°CFassreife: in Barriques gereift (8 Monate)Lagerfähigkeit: 5 - 7 Jahre ab Jahrgan Rotwein > Südafrika > Paarl - Franschhoek
