Bodegas Volver la Mancha Tempranillo 2010
Saturated ruby. Strikingly aromatic nose offers a pungent array of fruit, floral and herbal scents. Sweet cherry-vanilla and cola flavors coat the palate and are enlivened by juicy acidity. Supple tannins gain strength on the finish, which strongly repeats the cola and floral qualities.
Dusty, earthy espresso nose with black plum and black berry fruit. Loads of black currant, black cherry, pepper, underbrush and plum on the palate. Very dark wine. Powerful flavor that coats the palate and lingers well. Nice oak and earth. 89 pts. 12/1/12

Volver's Tempranillo is a staple for us, a great go to wine because of its bright fruit character and structure. Aromas of blackberries, violets, incense, and vanilla. On the palate the wine is pleasant and round with a lingering finish.
This bold red delivers plenty of espresso, black pepper and toasty oak flavors that frame a core of rich plum, boysenberry and sassafras. Features well-integrated tannins and enough acidity for liveliness. Drink now through 2018.
The 2010 Volver (100% Tempranillo) is a single vineyard, outstanding effort that was aged in French oak for 14 months prior to being bottled unfiltered. Its deep ruby/purple color is followed by copious aromas of black currants, black cherries, pepper, underbrush and licorice. This well-made, medium to full-bodied effort should drink well for 4–5 years.
Glass-staining ruby. Explosive, seductively perfumed aromas of candied red and dark berries, incense, rose pastille and Asian spices. Sappy, penetrating black raspberry and blueberry flavors show excellent depth and clarity, with smoky mineral and star anise nuances gaining strength with air. Closes sweet and very long, with lingering spiciness and gentle tannins. Importer Jorge Ordonez told me that lots of high-end oak is used here, from the likes of Taransaud, Darnajou and Dominique Laurent, for example.
