Bodegas Vega-Sicilia Tempranillo Blend Ribera del Duero Valbuena 5° 1989

Winemaker's Notes:

93 points Robert Parker: The 1989 Valbuena is unquestionably the finest Valbuena I have tasted. If this is a forerunner of what we can expect from the 1989 Unico Reserva (not yet released), I can imagine how thrilling that wine must be. The Valbuena displays an opaque dark ruby/purple color, a staggeringly intense nose of sweet, toasty new oak, black-cherries, cassis, and fragrant spicy scents. It possesses superb intensity, wonderful opulence, and a full-bodied, luscious finish. As with the other Vega Sicilia offerings, it has immediate appeal, but its extract levels and power suggest it will last for 10-15 years. (Apr 1994)
