This wine is great when decanted. It was even better the next day.
a little bit of red spice combined with sweet oak and cinnamon. nice acidity on the palate, delicate earth and red fruit characteristics. You'll notice that with most of the Rioja's during this tasting I experienced a raspberry earthy reaction
A nice sweet wine, with cloves and rosemary on the nose. Finishes with plums and a lingering herbal notes. I like this wine.

($52; aged in a 50/50 blend of new French and American barriques Vivid ruby. Crushed raspberry, candied licorice and Asian spices on the highly fragrant nose. Extremely primary and deep, with a medicinal cast to the powerful but very backward flavors... Stephen Tanzers IWC.
