Malvasia and Viura Blend Nice yellow light in color. The nose is a creamy lime light aroma that fills the nose with some light nuts and wood in the background. Fully dry with a good acidity, the mouth feel is somewhat creamy with the acidty keeping it from being flabby. Light lime, and minerals round out a palate of flesh fruits. 3.5/5 [NR]

Bottled 12/15/05 Brilliant color, very dark. Nose shows strawberry, bannana, cherry, anise, black pepper, and a slight weediness. In the mouth strong acidity is followed by light tannins. Flavors of anise, black fruit, bannana peal, and some cherry. Surprisingly good. 3.5/5 [NR]

Deep maroon red in color. Rich mineral nose with smoke, red fruits, and lots of anise. Tight in the mouth with fine tannins, and high acid. The palate shows, more minerals, rich raspberry, cherry and cinnamon. 4/5 [NR]

So far this wine has only been released in the states. 90% Tempranillo, 10% Graciano, 80% French oak, 20% American Oak. Very clear in color it is a deep burgundy color. The nose shows raspberry, light vanilla oak, light barnyard, anise, cinnamon, and mint. Ever evolving with a bit more air I started to smell milk chocolate, deep cherry, currant, and some herbal undergrowth. In the mouth the tannins are fine and firm with a medium to high acidity. Flavors of cherry, strawberry, mint, chocolate, rosemary, all of which linger on the palate for an incredibly long time. I really would like to taste this again in about 4-5 years and even then I think it would be imporving. Truely a great wine. 4.5/5 [NR]

The 1996 could be called the Château Latour of Rioja. An opaque black/plum color is followed by aromas of minerals, cigar tobacco, cedar, lead pencil, and sweet black currant, plum, and cherry fruit. One of the greatest young Riojas I have ever tasted, it exhibits full body, a huge, concentrated palate feel, an immense, chewy texture, and high tannin in the finish. The proprietor, who started this bodega in 1989, was not satisfied with anything until 1994, when the first wine was released. This looks to be a prodigious Rioja that should age effortlessly for three decades. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2030.
