Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.

One of my favorite producers anywhere, one of my favorite wines from this producer (beat only by the white Tondonia gran reserva), and an excellent vintage. What's not to love.

Winemaker's Notes:

Tempranillo (75%), Garnacha (15%), Mazuelo and Graciano (10%), all from López de Heredia's own vineyards. 1994 recorded in the Rioja as an Excellent vintage. Color: Vibrant red leading slightly towards amber. Nose: Light fresh texture with notes of vanilla and dried berry aromas. Taste: Rich, very dry, smooth, developed. Firm tannins and balance. Ageing period in barrels: 9 years, being racked twice a year and fined with fresh egg whites. Alcohol 12%. Food matching: Goes well with all meat dishes irrespective of their preparation. 1,500 cases produced.
