Thirty years ago, there was little Rioja sold outside the Spanish-speaking world. Now we are fortunate to have a plethora of choices. Discover this ruby-colored, ripe-berry scented wine and enjoy the possibilities!
This plush, modern red frames black cherry jam flavors with tobacco and dark chocolate notes. Thick and juicy, with well-integrated tannins and a clean finish. Drink now through 2010.
Light and fresh. This supple red offers bright cherry and spicy flavors, with a smoky, slightly dry finish. Drink now.
Deep red. Dark cherry, plum, tobacco and earth aromas along with an intriguing smoky note. A sweet, supple midweight with a bitter edge to its dark berry and cherry-vanilla flavors. This has a pleasantly light touch and finishes with gentle peppery cut and good persistence.
The 2006 Crianza is 100% Tempranillo that spent 14 months in American oak. Dark ruby-colored, it offers up an attractive nose of cedar, spice box, leather, violets, and blackberry. On the palate it is medium-bodied with ample savory fruit leaning toward elegance. It has good concentration and a bit of structure that should permit another 6 years of enjoyable drinking. It is a good value.
