Bodegas Ochoa Tempranillo Navarra Crianza 2004

Editorial Review by Gregory Dal Piaz:

Offering a really nice nose with earth, forest floor, leather, and beef notes edged with very well integrated milky wood tones. Smooth and silky on entry with lots of bright acids and soft tannins supporting rich, juicy fruit with intense dark raspberry/blueberry fruit and a lovely bitter edge keeping it tense in the mouth. This gains a bit of a citrussy/burnt orange rind top note, which leads to a cleansing finish with sweet/sour blueberry note that recalls a fruit smoothie. Finishes a bit short. 87pts

Olite is the wine capital of Navarre, ancient capital of the old Kingdom, and our wines are a reflection of the strong personality of this land. Gooey fig hints on this light nose. It's warm and fills the mouth well, a bit of oak and some spice, the fruit is still potent and bright, but muted and sticks to the side of the mouth and lights up the back of the tongue a bit.

Tangy medicine, chalk, apricot, fairly dry, strong acidity.

Oh I like this. It's pretty mellow but ends with a slight zing.

Rich nose of bramble and leather. Firm acids and some robust tannins keep the wine balanced, there are some floral notes and some petrol and and burnt wood notes on the finish.
