This offer up a very stinky, very Burgundian nose with a core of leather and spice notes gently backed with vanilla tones. High toned and with great intensity this adds expansive notes of reduced red berries. Opulent and layered in the mouth with black cherry fruit of almost syrupy quality. Lots of very fine tannins add support to the fruit and the superbly integrated acidity keeps everything fresh. This is very youthful and absolutely delicious. 2008-2016

Tame, elegant, balanced, delicious. Alluring nose of deep rich cherry-berry fruit, and interesting mineral. Gentle on the attack, in the mouth consistent layers of rich ripe fruit and mineral from start to finish. Medium body, medium acid, medium pleasant and gripping tannins. Like a Bordeaux Premier Cru Classe, but ready to drink. Phenomenal.
Smooth, silky, and a bit light bodied. Sweet nose of candied red and black berry, floral hints, sweet earth or compost. Round, mild, smooth, clean blackberry, some cherry, strawberry, leather, and nut oil. Finish of vanilla and hint of leather.
WS gave it 90 pts. Interesting, but nice overall. Tart plum, leafy smoky and somewhat minerally tempranillo. Thin mouthfeel but strong flavors. - Tasted at Marché Bacchus 1/23/10
Vegetable/pepper nose, moderate tannins, slightly thin palate, long finish that's a little bitter but good.

Made from the local varieties of Tempranillo, Graciano, and Mazuelo, the Torremuga is one of Muga's most powerful reds. This wine shows elegance and finesse, with notes of roasted coffee bean, dark chocolate, and dried fruit. Muga remains one of the oldest family run estates in Rioja.
