Bodegas Muga Tempranillo Blend Rioja Gran Reserva Prado Enea 2001

Winemaker's Notes:

95 points Wine & Spirits: A pure expression of Rioja Alta fruit, Prado Enea grows at Muga's highest vineyards in Sajazarra, at elevations of 2,000 feet. The site's cool temperatures often extend the harvest into November, the slow maturation of the grapes creating this vibrant 2001 focused on peppery spice and floral notes. It's earthy and bright, with a supple richness to the tannin. This is the most aristocratic of the 2001 wines we tasted, and its resonant balance should allow the wine to age for another ten years or more. (Dec 2009)

Nose of freshly turned soil. Loads of earth. Funky cheese on the nose. Red fruit is downplayed. Flavors of plum, a nice earthiness, roasted coffee, sharp cheese. It's rich and complex with great structure. Wonderfully balanced!

The garnet-colored 2001 Prado Enea Gran Reserva exhibits aromas of wood smoke, vanilla, pencil lead, damp earth, and spice box. Firm and elegant, this racy, classically-styled Rioja can be enjoyed now but should drink well through 2021. 91 Points, Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate # 183, Jun 2009.

Dunkles, reifes Ziegelrot. Komplexes Bukett: Zigarrenkistchen, Leder, Tabak, reife, dunkle Beerenfrucht, Waldboden.

One of Rioja's great vintages that will no doubt be sought by collectors and wine enthusiasts alike. Full of spiced aromas, chocolate and dense berries. Full-bodied, smooth and well-balanced.

($73) Full ruby-red. Deep, smoky, lightly roasted aromas of black plum, minerals and licorice. Full, round and sweet, with highly complex plum, cinnamon and smoky oak flavors perfectly framed by strong but harmonious acidity. Fat, broad and wonder... Stephen Tanzers IWC. A wine from Rioja in Spain. 2001 Muga Torre Muga 1500ml

Weingut: Bodegas MugaRegion: RiojaRebsorte: 70% Tempranillo, 20% Garnacha, 10% Mazuelo und GracianoInhalt: 0,75 lAlkoholgehalt: 13,5 Vol.%Säuregehalt: 5,5 g/lRestsüße: 1,5 g/lLagerfähigkeit: 15-20 Jahre ab Jahrgang Fassreife: in Barriques gereift (36 Monate)Empfohlene Serviertemperatur: 16-18°C Rotwein > Spanien > Rioja
