beautiful classic notes as if its from Provence, France. citrus, bright acidity, strong minerality with some white peach, a bit of fennel, and some nectarine. great for this hot summer solstice day!
My first ever review of a rose wine, not bad! This wine was part of the Snooth tasting, and having tried it at G.B. Russo's last weekend I picked up a bottle and chilled it expecting a resumption of the unbearably hot weather we've had so far this summer. So tonight's the night! I figure I like Rioja, so that at least gives this wine a head start right? The wine has a nice blush color in the glass, almost an orange-pink hue. The nose is quite pleasant with aromas of fresh strawberry and citrus, with just a mild hint of grass. The wine tastes of bright fruit at the outset, with strawberry and fresh cut melon, quickly giving way to a mild flavor of ruby red grapefruit and fresh herbs with a sharp acidity. The finish is clean and crisp, with very mild tannins resulting in a very dry, but short finish. see here for the full review: http://allaloneonaplanetfullofpeople.blogspot.com/2012/06/2011-muga-rioja-rose.html
Bright, pale salmon hue, with aromas of dried stone fruits and flowers; fresh flavor notes of tart red berries and citrus, carried by good acidity to a dry floral and ripe watermelon, passion fruit finish. Great rose' value.
The nose showed light strawberry and melon with spring floral notes and a bit of peppery spice peaking through. On the palate it was medium bodied with brisk acidity that lit up the senses and the slightest hint of fruit sweetness. Flavors of nectarine and peach were prominent, mixing with minerals and staying through the finish.
Pale pink. Fragrant with white and pink flowers. Its delicacy creates austerity on the nose. Some stone and mineral noticeable. Flavors of wild strawberry, cantaloupe and rich berry flavors. Tangy, zingy berry fruit with great acid and nice balance. Some zesty spice and a hint of salinity. Really tasty! 6/20/12
So good. not sappy sweet, some nice fruit notes. not a big finish, but so refreshing.
This was a rose that I really enjoyed. The wine was a salmon color and this had me wondering. A light flowery aroma and as far as the taste, there was very subtle fruit of which I detected some sort of melon. The best thing about this wine was that it was dry and had a medium finish. This wine could go with almost any summer cusine. Loved it.

The 2011 Muga Rose is a blend of around 60% Garnacha, 30% Viura and 10% "other" varieties and Jorge Muga was at pains to point out that the vines are specifically cultivated for the rose and not the bi-product of another red. Pale, salmon-pink colour with slightly copper-tinged hues in the bulb of the glass.A curious vintage in terms of aromas, as we can hardly detect the typical tart apple and citrus fruits which are normally such a hallmark of this wine in other years. This time we are confronted with a whole spectrum of fruit aromas in which perhaps pears, peaches and passion fruit are the ones which stand out most. The impression is comparable with the impact on our sense of smell when we enter a fruit market: you can smell everything, it is all pleasant on the nose, but there is not just a single, clearly recognisable aroma. In the mouth it is syrupy without being sweet, supple thanks to the work of the fine lees, and held together by the right touch of sharpness provided by the garnacha grape.
The 2008 Muga Roseacute; is a blend of Garnacha, Viura, and Tempranillo. Light pink in color, it offers up aromas and flavors of strawberry and rhubarb. Crisp and tasty in the mouth, it has a fruity, refreshing finish. Drink it over the next 12ndash;18 months.
Bright pink. A complex bouquet displays scents of red berries, cherry, dried flowers, anise and baking spices. Pliant, silky red berry flavors display good depth and gentle sweetness, with a late note of fennel adding complexity. Finishes with good juicy persistence and lingering minerality. Dry enough to work by itself but has the power to handle richer, grilled foods.
Elaboration After about twelve hours macerating with the grape skins, the wine ferments for 25 days in small, 1000 litre wooden vats, which is where it is kept for 2 months before being bottled.
Tasting Garnacha, the key variety in the composition of this wine, has no fear of harsh weather conditions. It shows itself at its best, if that is possible, in hot, dry years. That is why we can say that 2011 is its crowning year. It brings the necessary freshness and crispness which are essential to a jolly, appealing wine made to be enjoyed in a tasting The wine’s attack on the nose brings reminders of tart fruit: unripe peaches, pineapple, passion fruit… all with a touch of flowers, especially white blossom, perhaps from the significant proportion of white Viura grapes. Its period left on the lees underpins the acidity in such a way that its presence is obvious but not intrusive, thanks to the softening influence of the polysaccharides. As you sip it your mouth seems to fill with sweet, chewy fruit. As it passes over the palate the sensations move towards sharp apples, before ending in the retronasal phase with a total dominance of white blossom and ripe fruit.
