Sharp wood greets the nose, which is nicely focused with small, wild strawberry fruit and a little tobacco. This is a bit high toned, lean and crisp in the mouth with a focused, elegant feel showing off fine tannins and a nice brightness. While retaining good tension in the mouth, this lacks a little follow through and drops off on the palate. Very front-loaded with somewhat tarry fruit, which is sort of a suggestion through the modest finish. 86pts

Deep and rich bing cherry on the nose tinted with some great oak notes. Smoky tar leads to a light and playful, yet heavy mouthfeel (oxymoron but it shows complexity!) A touch of spiciness makes gives it power and finesse
Ripe fruit and dark berry flavors. Pleasant but it doesn't stand out in a crowd.
In the glass, Cone de Valdemar Reserva had bright cherry red color. Most Italian red wines tend to have a ruby red or after long aging a garnet red color. This looked interesting and was a good start. On the palate. the wine had a lot of leather, some cocoa, a bit of tobacco and spices. Very complex and lots of aromas but I missed the fruit component. In Italy there is saying that if wine doesn't have a fruit aroma then it's not a good wine since wine is made from fruit. Alcohol by volume was label listed at 13.5%. After taking a sip, I noticed some tannins but they were not aggressive. Cone de Valdemar from Bodegas Valdemar was dry and well-bodied. The finish was very long but I almost only tasted oak. Klares, intensives Kirschrot. In der Nase, Aromen von schwarzer, reifer Frucht, würzig mit Toastnoten. Am Gaumen komplexe, fleischige Noten mit reifer Frucht. Ein intensiver Abgang.

Astonishing complexity and elegance for a wine at this price. This is a medium-bodied, dry red wine with subtle hints of cranberry, earth, and spice.
Reddish-purple color with bronze orange rim. The wine reveals aromas of cocoa, coffee bean, turned earth and red bean paste.
