Bodegas Luzon Mourvedre Blend Jumilla Alma de Luzon 2004

Member Review by ryanopaz:

Stupidly heavy bottle immediately makes me not recommend this wine to anyone who lives outside of Spain! Other than that, with is dark and intense in color. This nose is packed tight with flavors that run the spectrum of dark cherries to anise and clove. Fat dark notes of chocolate, and roasted meats, this stuff is serious and with a perfumy nature. In the mouth this is a lush, rich and decadent wine. Fine, silky tannins are as tight as a drum, but remain elegant. Oak is a bit disjointed now, but I do think that this will change, and that this wine just needs some time, 5 to 10 yrs to calm down. Wow, give me more.

WOW! If simplicity were required for a wine, this would fail miserably, as this wine embodies complexity and layers. Dark spices, clove, boysenberry, dark cherry, slate and red meat on the nose, laced in a beautiful rich chocolate veil. Despite the slightly off-kilter oak that is somewhat jarring, the wine shows bright, balanced acidity, alongside silky fine tannins that give rise to a ridiculously expressive plum and dark raspberry finish. Overall, this is a sexy and sensuous wine!
