User Reviews for Bodegas Lan Rioja Crianza
Add your reviewCherry Red Color, light tanins . Good balance between fruit & oak, however I found the wine a little light in structure & finish. Nice wine, good value, but not sure why on top 100 WS list.
Opaque cherry-plum hue, aromas of red stone fruits, licorice and vanilla; flavor notes of resinous ripe plum, chalky cherries with vanilla on refined tannins over a moderate finish. Well made, good everyday value, but a wonderful label for less than $10.
Kind of plain and uninteresting as Rioja go-- but nothing "wrong" or offensive. Just average.
On the nose, mostly smokey cherry. On the palate, good black cherry and cassis fruitiness highlighted by bright acidity. Toasted oak is well integrated so that it is complimentary, not overwhelming. Firm tannins round out the structure. Moderate smokey, mildly peppery finish.
This was listed as a top low-priced wine by Wine Spectator. This was one of the few from their article that I could find, and I was hoping for greatness. Well, maybe me and WS are not always in perfect agreement - not that it was bad. Dark red pour with a light purple tinge. A touch thin on the palate. Pleasantly sour flavor - pretty robust, with a touch of licorice and light bitterness. Not very lush, but good - nothing tastes off or wrong.

It's back! We sold it out after it received a 90 point rating and a spot on the Wine Spectator Top 100 Wines of 2010. A polished Rioja with ripe plum, warm spices, hints of telltale Rioja leather and a velvety texture. Great deal of complexity for under $15. It's a steal.
Light red. Fresh red berry and floral aromas display a vibrant, straightforward character. Juicy, tightly wound red fruit flavors betray no tannins and pick up a zesty, peppery quality with air.
Fresh and balanced, this red brims with cherry, spice and licorice, with light, firm tannins and vibrant acidity. The texture is generous yet delicate. Not heavy, but vivacious. Drink now through 2014.
The 2006 Crianza is 100% Tempranillo that spent 12 months in French and American oak. Cherry red in color, it offers up an attractive nose of cedar, espresso, tobacco, and black cherry. This leads to a ripe, savory offering with plenty of spice and earth notes, a bit of structure, and 1-2 years of aging potential. Enjoy this excellent value from 2011 to 2018.
Aromas of sandalwood, cinnamon and vanilla give way to flavors of berries, tea and spices in this supple, traditional red. It's well integrated and fresh on the finish. Drink now through 2003.
