This Spanish masterpiece is glass-coating opaque purple it exhibits a sensational nose of earth mushroom leather blueberry and blackberry jam. I think I liked the bruiser that was the prior year better. Still, a very nice wine. Voluptuous lavendar, blueberry muffin and black currant. Inky purple in glass. Very rich. - Tasted at Marché Bacchus 1/23/10

Scent of licorice, spice, very lively in the mouth, some leather and oak comes through in the finish. Best of the Spanish wine tasting.

another color... bodegas el nido clio 2007 Spain's black and purple 2007 Clio is made of 70% Monastrell and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon; the wine is aged for over two years in new American oak before it's put in the bottle. This is a sultry red with sexy, caressing aromas of underbrush, incense, lavender, blueberry and dark currant. Voluptuous and creamy on the palate, this stacked very attractive red is a turn on. For many who enjoy meek flavors that tease and under deliver, Clio is not for them. We should all thank Australian winemaker Chris Ringland for his work with this project. Drink in this very satisfying effort through 2020

93 Points - International Wine Cellar"A pungent, smoky bouquet displays rich dark berry preserves along with notes of licorice, violet, cured meat and black pepper. Brighter red fruits on the palate, which is surprisingly energetic for such richness. Tangy cracked pepper and mace notes build with air and carry into the finish. Leaves sweet red and dark berry notes behind on the very long, sappy and sweet finish. This energetic wine is already delicious."
