Bodegas El Coto Tempranillo Rioja Coto de Imaz Reserva 2006
Sour cherry flavors. Went great with meat. 87 pts.
This wine wasn't super exciting, but acceptable. It's like a blind date that just doesn't go well. 80/100
A value priced wine with good dark fruit, moderate tanin and acidity. Very drinkable now and unapologetically tasty with any dark meat or robust entree.
This wine is incredible. I would suck the planet dry of this wine if I could. Best red 2007 I ever had. Great work and thank you for the good times!

Light and rosy in color, with spicy, peppery aromas blending with hints of raspberry and rhubarb, Very much in the leaner, spicier mold; the palate is slight and the finish dry and peppery.
Only slightly reedy and sharp on the nose. After that, the wine shows nice fruit and balance throughout. There are snappy cherry and raspberry flavors, and the finish offers proper finality in the form of light oak and cleansing acidity. Drink now for an easy taste of Rioja.
This sleek red shows racy flavors of cherry, licorice and vanilla, as well as leaf and cola accents, with gentle tannins and bright acidity. Drink now through 2012.
Medium red. Shy nose slowly opens to display redcurrant and dried cherry, along with subtle vanilla bean and tobacco qualities. Light, gently sweet red fruit flavors are silky and smooth, with no obvious tannins or rough edges. Understated and nicely balanced, with good finishing lift and clarity. Fans of old-school Rioja should give this a spin.
88 Points-Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, July 2008Medium red. Shy nose slowly opens to display redcurrant and dried cherry, along with subtle vanilla bean and tobacco qualities. Light
Ruby red in color, with light strawberry flavors covered in toasty oak and vanilla. Very soft in the mouth, this crianza is round and smooth. This style of wine shows how beneficial oak aging can be for the Tempranillo grape.
The first act of dried spices and light, dusty red fruit aromas is honest and subdued. The palate brings good weight and lightly leafy, tomatoey accents to red cherry and raspberry flavors. Light, dry and a little stemmy on the finish. Standard but hinting at elegant.
