Bodegas Castano Sierra Salinas Casa Mira Alicante 2006

Winemaker's Notes:

Vineyards "Only the grapes from the self owned 52 hectares of vineyard surrounding the winery are harvested following a strict selection and vinification process with a cool maceration previous to alcoholic fermentation and post fermentative maceration with skins and seeds. Gentle use of pigeage instead of pump overs to avoid over oxigenation and allowing the integrity of the skins. Farming Practice: Sustainable. Age of Vines: 26-year-old Garnacha Tintorera, 15-year-old Cabernet Sauvignon 31-year-old Monastrell. Aging: 18 months in new French oak barrles with medium toast and from different providers to create more complexity of flavours and aromas." - Producer Wine "Rich, black fruits on the palate. Smooth and long finish. Rhubarb pie action going on but dry. Beautiful wine." - Producer

During the 90's, participation in trade fairs, tastings, and market research trips began with the full incorporation of his three sons: Ramon, Juan Pedro, and Daniel. It was during this period that the recognition and appreciation, both national and internationally, arrived. The courage and determination of a man deeply rooted began to bear fruit. The development of Bodegas Castano is unstoppable, and the improvements are never-ending. The most recent of these was completed in 2002 with the construction of state-of-the-art storage premises: completely air-conditioned, with a new cooling chamber. Read less
