Bursting onto the Spanish and international wine scene with brute force, Bodegas Castano, located in Yecla (southeast Spain just outside of Alicante) was one of the first in the region to focus on Monastrell, both pure and blended with other varietals. Speaking of the 2001 Hecula and Solanera, Parker says, Speaking of points per pennies, I don't think I have ever rated two such inexpensive wines this highly. I practically drank a full bottle of each just to follow their evolution in the glass.
