Bodegas Campos Reales Tempranillo Blend la Mancha 2012

Member Review by jamessulis:

Nice wine, deep earhy aroma with spice undertones. Tasting this tempranello is a treat for all you tannin lovers. The tannins express themselves in a long time frame leaving the mouth with a rich deep fruity flavor. Also lingering is a nice smokey essense. For such an economical wine this one is nice with any meat you want to prepare.

Bodegas Campos Reales:
In a region with a very long tradition of winemaking such as El Provencio. where our facilities are situated, the passage of time has helped us build and increase our know-how and skills. At Bodegas Campos Reales we retain from tradition that which we know should not be changed... hand harvesting, traditional pruning, the importance of indigenous grape varieties, aging in quality oak barrels...

Very light, limited flavor. Almost bitter.

This was too bitter at the beginning and the finish. It had a tart bite that almost seemed like I had liquid tin in my mouth. Definitely not something I will buy again.

Aroma of stewed fruit and fig with an edge of brightness, palate of very dark fruit, soft smoke, with a woody finish. Easy to drink.

Nestled in the very heart of the vast central plateau of La Mancha, the largest wine growing region in the world, the Campos Reales vineyards surround the quaint village of El Provencio. Here the Tempranillo grape thrives in the arid Mediterranean climatein sandy, rocky, calcareous clay soils. The warm growing season encourages the development of ripe dark fruit flavors, deep color and long balanced tannins. As the label illustrates, Campos Reales is a great compliment to many meat and poultry dishes or may be enjoyed on its own merits. - Winery

Bright, medium ruby-red. Slightly tanky, musky aromas of crushed dark berries. Juicy and nicely concentrated, with black raspberry, licorice and pepper flavors, along with a wild, gamey character and an exotic suggestion of banana.

Bright purple. Primary dark berry aromas are complicated by licorice, dried flowers and cured meat. Complex for this price point, offering deep blackberry and blueberry flavors and a firm, chewy texture. It's rare to find this seriousness at this price.

An excellent value from 30-year old Tempranillo vines, this tank-fermented and aged, medium-bodied 2003 is all fruit. Reminiscent of Beaujolais, it reveals hints of bubble gum, Kool Aid, strawberries, and cherries in a clean, fruity style. It could be served slightly chilled over the next 12-18 months.

Bright purple. Fresh red berries and candied cherry on the nose. Taut, focused dark berry flavors are complemented by notes of licorice and smoke, with no tannins to be found. Finishes slightly clenched, with an echo of dark berries. This is one serious bargain.
