Although the history of the city of Borja takes us back to the beginnings of the Paleolithic period, it wasn’t until the 4th century before Christ, in the heart of the Celtiberian period, when thanks to classical and numismatic written sources the name of this village came to light: Bursao. With the passing through Bursao of different civilizations like the Romans, Visigothic Hispania and the Muslims we have inherited architectural remains and above all, the natural inclination of its people towards agriculture and more particularly viniculture. Of equal importance was the implementation of artisanal techniques that today endure as living proof of the cultural richness of the former Bursao today known as Borja. During the I and II centuries, before our time, it used to mint bronze coins, ases and dividers as a symbol of its autonomy. On the obverse of the as we can see a celtiberian rider armed with a lance, riding on the writing of the name of the city in the native alphabet. The emblem adopted by the winery as a sign of identity. Read less

Plenty of strawberry flavors on the nose and palate. Almost no tannins. Good acid gives it freshness and crispness.

I tried this at Wine Spectator Magazine's "Grand Tour -2009" in Chicago. This wine scored a whopping 92pts according to Wine Spectator Magazine. I have been told by several non-WS magazine folks, this rating should be in the neighborhood of 90. Anyway for $15 you can not go wrong and I have bought a couple since. I really like it. Its perfect for sitting on the deck and sharing with someone special. However, this wine is far from a keeper, or a special occasion wine, i.e. promotion, graduation, Apocalypse...whatever! :) This wine will impress someone who knows little to nothing about wine. This wine will dissapoint someone who seasoned and is critical of the rating system. Remember, it's just a bottle of wine. Enjoy it! BTW, you can find other wines from the same region in Spain that are similar in price and taste but better! I'm not trying to discourage this particular wine, just thinking out loud. -TF

Red blend. Smooth and super concentrated. Was priced at $15.99. Deep plum color and pretty long finish. Decanting would rock this wine.

The blend creates a unique wine that is not dominated by any one of the grapes. For a hot wine (14.7%) it is still pretty soft.

A stunning value, the 2004 Borsao Crianza Seleccion (a blend of 60% Grenache, 20% Tempranillo, and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon) was aged 10 months in French oak. It is a delicious, hedonistic fruit bomb offering soft tannins, medium to full body, and loads of sexy blackberry and cherry fruit as well as hints of earth and spice box. The elegance, flavor depth, and richness are amazing for this price point. Drink it over the next 1-2 years.

There are exciting times in the industry and it's a pleasure to find a wine that not only tastes great but is affordable as well. Borsao's '96 Crianza is a dry, medium-bodied red from Spain that has a fruity bouquet and fresh cherry and spice flavors which marry well with Mediterranean cuisine. We liked it so much that we were compelled to buy in quantity so we could pass the savings on to you.

Dense and balanced, this polished red carries plum, blackberry, black pepper and tar flavors. Muscular tannins are well-integrated, and fresh acidity carries coffee, floral and mint notes through the finish. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. Drink now through 2014.

Weingut: BorsaoRegion: AragonienRebsorte: 60% Grenache, 20% Tempranillo, 20% Cabernet SauvignonInhalt: 0.75 lAlkoholgehalt: 14 Vol.%Lagerfähigkeit: drei bis fünf Jahre ab JahrgangFassreife: in Barriques gereift (10 Monate)Empfohlene Serviertemperatur: 12-16°CAuszeichnungen:[88 Parker Punkte] [Mundus Vini Silber] Rotwein > Spanien > Aragonien

Saturated ruby-red. Blackberry and blueberry aromas are complicated by incense and dried flowers. Juicy dark berry flavors are liqueur-like in richness, with nervy minerality adding energy. Becomes fleshier and sweeter on the finish, which echoes the floral note. Pretty sexy stuff.
