The 2007 Tres Picos Garnacha is a worthy successor to previous vintages of this always remarkable value. Sourced from low yielding vineyards on the slopes of Moncayo Mountain, the wine was aged half in stainless steel and half in French oak for 10 months. Purple-colored, it offers up sexy aromas of cedar, underbrush, mineral, and black cherry. This leads to a layered, intense, spicy, rich Garnacha with gobs of succulent fruit, excellent balance, and a plush finish. This may well be the finest Tres Picos to date. It is likely to improve in the bottle for 2-3 years but there is no reason to delay your gratification.Inky ruby. Campo de Borja ist benannt nach dem historischen und gleichnamigen Städtchen Borja worden, es liegt süd-östlich der Anbauregionen Rioja und Navarra, ungefähr 60 km entfernt von der Stadt Zaragoza am Fluß Ebro. Der Name der Bodega leitet sich vom lateinischen Namen "Borsau" des Örtchens Borja ab, das im 4. Jahrhundert seine Blütezeit hatte und sich über eine Fläche von über 25 ha ausdehnte. Noch heute sind Spuren von Bauwerken aus sowohl römischen, hispanischen und muslimischen Epochen das prägende Erscheinungsbild von Borja. Auf einer Höhe von 420 Metern über dem Meeresspiegel liegend, verfügt das Anbaugebiet über ein ideales Klima mit heißen Tagen und kühlen Nächten, begünstigt durch das nahegelegene 2 300 Meter hohe Moancayo Gebirge. Ein Großteil der Weinberge wurde mit Garnacha bestockt, einige Hektar auch mit den Sorten Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Mazuelo sowie etwas Syrah. In the nose, there is a boundless bouquet of mature red fruits with traces of flowers that are typical of the best Garnachas. In the mouth, it is rich and well-structured simultaneously conveying flavors of blackberries, strawberries and tones of leather, vanilla and plums. Perfectly combined with a sweet and pleasant tannin, Tres Picos Borsao leaves us with a long, silky and balanced finish.
