Bodegas Borsao Campo de Borja Borsao 2009

Winemaker's Notes:

87 points Jay Miller (Wine Advocate): [$8 list] The 2009 Borsao Tinto is composed of 80% Garnacha and 20% Tempranillo fermented and aged in stainless steel. Also a deep purple-color, it offers up a brooding bouquet of spicy black cherry and blackberry fruit with a hint of violets in the background. Sweet, long, and layered, this lengthy effort is an excellent value for drinking over the next 3 years. (Apr 2010)

Of equal importance was the implementation of artisanal techniques that today endure as living proof of the cultural richness of the former Bursao today known as Borja. During the I and II centuries, before our time, it used to mint bronze coins, ases and dividers as a symbol of its autonomy. On the obverse of the as we can see a celtiberian rider armed with a lance, riding on the writing of the name of the city in the native alphabet. Packed with juicy berry fruit, this lush, soft red hails from Campo de Borja, midway between Barcelona and Rioja. It is a very solid choice with barbecue, spicy sauces, and pizza.
