Rioja, SpainBeronia Rioja Reserva is a Spanish red wine gem from Gonzalez Byass that shows off the depth and complexity of the 2004 vintage for Rioja, Spains most famous wine region. Bodegas Beronia is situated in the Rioja Alta surrounded by 30 hectares of vineyards. For this 2004 vintage, winemaker Matias Callejo blended 90% Tempranillo with 6% Mazuelo and 4% Graciano grapes. The wine received a 90-point rating from Josh Raynolds for International Wine Cellar.Beronia Rioja Reserva is intense garnet in color with beautiful aromas and flavors of black cherry, cranberry, red currant, cinnamon, vanilla and toasty oak. Medium-full in body with velvety tannins and moderate acidity, the wine is smooth and elegant on the palate. It was aged a minimum of 18 months in casks of American and French oak, then bottled and stored in cellar for 18 months before release. Well balanced to enjoy now and over the next 7-8 years, it is long and elegant on the finish.Enjoy Beronia Rioja Reserva with lamb chops, steak, roast pork, paella, and aged cheeses.
Intense ruby color. Concentrated fruit flavors of blackberries and cherries, enlivened by a touch of spice and a hint of vanilla. It has good structure and firm tannins. Nice complexity on the palate with a satisfying, long finish. Pair with chicken, yellow rice and black beans.
Balance zwischen Frucht und Holz, sehr ausgewogene Tanninstruktur mit langem Abgang.

Earthy and smooth, this Rioja unwinds flavors of savory dried earth, roasted plums and mushrooms underpinned by fine-grained tannins. Dark smoky spice notes accent the palate and linger on the graceful finish.
Aromas of cherries, plums and cedar with hints of vanilla. Sweet and nicely focused on the palate, with flavors of berries, vanilla and chocolate. Will be perfect with a piece of lamb or a steak.
A dense, plush texture carries ripe flavors of plum, raisin, tar and tobacco in this bold red. Full tannins and bright acidity give this a youthful character. Expressive and harmonious. Drink now through 2018. -TM Wine Spectator. A Tempranillo wine from Rioja in Spain. 2004 Beronia, Bodegas Rioja Gran Reserva 750ml
Winemaker's Notes:
The grapes used for Beronia Gran Reserva are chosen in the vineyards, usually from the oldest vines. On arrival at the winery, the grapes are hand-selected on a sorting table, and only the best quality are used for Gran Reserva. The role of oak in Beronia style is very important, and much has been invested into how the wines, once in the barrel, react to different toast and styles of woods. These experiments have led Beronia to be pioneers in the use of mixed barrels, barrels with American oak slaves, and French oak ends. The wine was bottled in February 2008 where it has remained since.
Tasting Notes:
Here's an example of old-school Rioja deliciousness: sawdust and dill from American oak barrels, powerful red and black fruits, hints of raisins and other dried fruits, dried mint, and white mushroom caps. These are classic descriptors for classic Gran Reserva wines, though there is just a whiff of toasty new barrels in there, enough to make it even more interesting.
48000 bottles produced.
Notes: 24 months in mixed American and French oak barrels
